My Oscar favourites & fails 2015

favourites, fails, best, worst, dressed, outfits, style, the oscars, 2015,

When it comes to movies, I'm the first to admit I have quite low brow taste - which means when it comes to Oscar nominees I have little interest. The red carpet before hand is a completely different matter. The Oscars tend to attract more traditional gowns, in rich fabrics with interesting embellishments and I love to see which A listers got it right - and which ones missed the mark.

favourites, fails, best, worst, dressed, outfits, style, the oscars, 2015, reece witherspoon, tom ford, jennifer hudson, romona keveza, rosamund pike, givenchy, Zuhair Murad, anna faris
Reece Witherspoon in Tom Ford, Jennifer Hudson in Romona Keveza,Rosamund Pike in Givenchy, Anna Faris in Zuhair Murad
Reece is always so safe, but I think this year it was head turning. The fit is just perfect on here and I love that she went with monochrome instead of something pink/nude as she has in the past. Jennifer Hudson is still rocking the new body and this yellow is stunning on her skin tone. Anna Faris just looks so classic in gold - definitely deserves some commendation for making a fully sequinned dress so understated. My favourite though has to be Rosamund Pike in XX red lace. So striking and unusual.

favourites, fails, best, worst, dressed, outfits, style, the oscars, 2015, solange knowles, Christian Siriano, Chloe Moretz, miu miu , Marion Cotillard, Dior Couture, Jessica Chastain, Versace
Solange Knowles in Christian Siriano, Chloe Moretz in Miu Miu, Marion Cotillard in Dior Couture, Jessica Chastain in Versace
Solange just never gets it right for me, this dress just gives her such a strange shape and adds weight in such weird places. She has such a gorgeous figure but this just swamps her and I feel the coral shade really washes her out. Chloe Moretz's dress for me channels being young and dressing up with a bed sheet and I think it is a really dated style. Marion Cotillard, wow I'm just not too sure what is going on with this - hair and makeup is stunning though. Such a weird place to pull it in. Finally Jessica Chastain in Versace - while I LOVE the navy with her gorgeous red hair I think the dress looks so cheap literally like something I bought from a market stall years ago. I think it could have worked without the terrible draped cowl neck bit but it just broadens her shoulders so much.

So that's what I was loving from this years red carpet! I'd love to know what your favourite looks were? Now I should probably get on with watching some of the films...

Until next time!

Comb the app - a new fashion must have?

comb, fashion, app, review, technology, lifestyle

Before I begin I'd like to say I'm really not into gimmicky apps. I prefer to allocate the storage on my iPhone to endless selfies and photos of my Starbucks. That being said, when the people from Comb got in touch and asked if I'd like to review their app, I was very interested. Have you ever been doing the lunchtime trawl of the news and seen Ariana/Taylor/Cheryl in something and been desperate to steal their style? Well now there's an app for that.

Illamasqua eye, lip & face review | Introduction to a brand

. glamore, collection, cream, embellish, eye, eyeshadow, first impressions, highlighter, illamasqua, lip. face. gleam, lipstick, nudes, once, review, rose gold, starkers,

I know that it doesn't score me great blogger points but I actually hadn't heard of Illamasqua until sometime last year when researching killer matte lipstick formulas. After wandering into their boutique store in London, I knew that I'd have to pick some up the first chance I got - which happened to be my Debenhams haul. I decided to try an eye. lip and a face product I'd heard a bit about and figure out if I thought it was worth investing further.
