Sunny Day Outfit OOTD

So this weekend we saw the sunniest day we have had in ages. Me and Ryan decided to take advantage of living on the south coast for once and head to the beach. I took great pleasure in going out without a jacket for the first time. We had a lovely day walking along the sea, hitting the arcades and finishing up with a lovely lunch at the waffle bar.

5 minute hairstyle: 90's style messy ponytail (with scrunchie!)

As I mention here, I am always looking for new ways to make putting my hair up at work more bearable. I am loving everything 90's for ages now and have been waiting for a chance to wear a pink scrunchie I picked up for eBay for ages. Yesterday my hair was having an absolute 'bush day' so I took my chance.

Review: Beauty Works Gold

Ever since my best friend bought me my first set of clip ins for my 18th birthday, I have been obsessed with hair extensions. My hair has always been flat and thin and incapable of growing far past my shoulders, so the idea of thick gorgeous long hair that does what it's meant to just really excites me.

Work OOTD

I dreamed the day I worked in a busy marketing office my work wardrobe would be all power dresses and structured suits. Fast forward to my first day in such a job where I realised the dress code is somewhat undefined. IT guys wondered around in their jeans, aside sales in their pinstriped shirts and ties whilst marketing stayed casual somewhere in between.

My spring wishlist

I didn't do a wishlist for last month, purely for the reason I was being very naughty and buying everything I wanted straight off. However it is a different story this month, I am on a spending ban at the moment, so naturally I want everything. This list could have been four pages long but I thought I'd show you what is really testing my willpower at the moment.

Stella and Bow: The Burn Book Collection

One of my favourite films of all time is Mean Girls, it's so funny and relateable and probably has the highest 'funny quotes per minute' of any film ever. Ten years later "boo you whore" and "you go Glen Coco" are still regularly used pop culture references in my life.

Work Makeup: MAC Ruby Woo

MAC Ruby Woo

For work, I've never ever been that adventurous with my make-up. On the whole I've worked in more casual but uniformed environments and I've never wanted to look overdressed. That coupled with my laziness and love of sleep amounted to a fairly natural make-up look being adorned most days. Now I have more time, money and freedom to dress how I want at work, I'm definitely wanting to make the most of it and try new things.

Pretty Little Liars Tag

Firstly apologies for lack of postings, work has been crazy and I have been having some serious camera issues - both not great for the blogging. With that in mind I thought I would bring you a different kind of posted inspired by Kirstie at A Yellow Brick Blog. As soon as I saw this I was excited because I love the show, although dissapointingly it doesn't seem to have the same kind of following in the UK. The fashion is one of the best things about it so I thought I'd answer their PLL TAG...

My Capsule Makeup Collection: Lips

There are a couple of facts worth knowing about me... One is that I have moved a LOT. From Essex, to Cambridge, to Suffolk, back to Essex, to Chichester, back to Cambridge then back to Chichester - it's all been very stressful. Currently am down South waiting for the boyfriend's lease to finish on his student house so we can move out into our first proper home. Because of this, my stuff is literally everywhere - mums, dads, sisters so I have had to be very selective about what I have down here for the moment.

My Shower Time Routine

I wouldn't say I have a textbook shower routine, most of the time it's grab whatever is closest in a rush to get out of the house as quick as possible (because I am usually late). I live for the days that I have long enough to pick from my array of products and have a full 'deep clean'.

Spring OOTD

Spring OOTD
I hope you have been enjoying the amazing weather this weekend, I know it sounds bad but if this is climate change I'm kind of okay with it. Aside from the usual working have been in town browsing and making the most of living by the sea. Sitting out by the sea with a cup of tea has to be a highlight. This was my spring Saturday OOTD, I thought the pink cami and the fur coat were the perfect way to bring in Spring.

Spring Haul Part 3: Tesco

My name is Nicola and I am a supermarket fashion junkie. I know it must seem like I spend half my time in supermarkets (actually I think I do) but I do just genuinely think they offer such value for money and because their ranges are perhaps aimed at a more reserved market, it suits what I need for work perfectly because it's not too showy, or inappropriate.

Spring Haul Part 2: New Look

If you have read a few of my posts before you can probably guess I am a BIG New Look fan. They embody everything I look for in a clothing brand - fun, colourful, classy, affordable and well fitting. As a size 14, it can often get quite awkward because clothes from 'plus size' retailers aren't really aimed at my shape, but then you're on the bigger edge of who high street stores design their clothes for. With New Look this isn't as much of a worry to me because they have a variety of styles and fabrics to suit and flatter every shape.

Giving up for lent...

This is the time of year everyone stuffs themselves with pancakes and break room discussion turns to how you're going to punish yourself for it for the next 40 days and nights. I have never really bought into it, mainly because I think if you want to give something up just use it- don't wait for an excuse.

But, this year is a year of breaking habits. Im proud of how well I have done with my new years blogalutions and how I'm doing on this blog. I'm trying so hard to lose weight and get fit so I'm feeling like this is the year I can achieve things. This brings me to...

1). Giving up chocolate for lent- when trying to get control of my weight this is the one thing I can't seem to kick. I know loads of people do this, but this will make such a difference to me.

As you may have read in an earlier posts I started a new job at the start of this year and have been over enjoying the new novelty of a salary. I love shopping always have but have been ridiculous in the last month. It's been fun, of course it has but it has but it has to stop.

2). Two month shopping ban! It will be tricky especially with my new found love of high end makeup but starting 17th March not a single possession will be bought. Only food and basic toilettries (as long as I have used up all that I own) are allowed. I thought about including socialising but I have a second job evenings and weekends so thats not a huge issue at the moment.

So there it is! Are you giving up anything for lent? Hopefully we can encourage each other!

Spring Haul Part 1: Miss Selfridge

I don't know what it is lately, whether it's because I've just got properly paid for the first time in months or just because spring is giving me the need to give my wardrobe new lease of life. This is the first of three posts to show you all the things that have got me spending! Ignore the colouring of the pictures - just getting to grips with the brightness settings on my camera with some weird results...

Models Own: Pukka Purple

Models Own were not a brand that were in my consciousness until really recently. Two of their collections really caught my eye whilst I was delving through Boots - the 'Fruit Pastels' and the 'Ice Neons'. I didn't really seriously consider buying because I am sadly a devotee of the nail bar and have worn acrylic nails religiously for years so nail polishes tend to just go forgotten in drawers.

However I was enamoured by their offering at Clothes Show Live 2013, a huge bag of MO for £10 including your choice of polishes. Immediately my mind flew to the collections I'd passed up and I sifted through the whole stand to try and find some. I managed to find two, one from each collection. The 'Banana Split' and the one in this post 'Pukka Purple. I am trying to give my nails a bit of a break from the acrylic so I thought it would be the perfect chance to try some polishes out.

I love how consistent the Models Own packaging is, it's great for brand recognition. This bottle is particularly nice because it has a kind of frosted finish to it. The polish goes on really nice and neatly (despite my terrible hand eye co-ordination!) and I only needed one coat to get the 'purple highlighter'
shade I was after. Three days later the coverage is still really good and it's only chipped where I have nervously chewed. I am dissapointed because I'd have prefered to try the pink or green shades in this colleciton but it's still a great colour and good to go with the colour of this spring - orange. The polish, like all models own retails at £5. I'd definitely consider picking up some of their other shades to take into the nail bar! MO gives so much more choice than the usual array of OPI reds and pinks they have on offer.

What do you think of Models Own? What's your favourite collection?
