Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

real techniques expert face brush

Before you sigh at yet another review of this hugely popular brush I'd like to tell you, this isn't your typical review. I was poised keyboard under fingers to write about my bad experiences with the brush but now I'd more like to share my thoughts on it with the benefit of hindsight.

Okay so it was 2014, spring was in the air and after what felt like forever hearing everybody rave about it I finally took the chance with a Boots 3 for 2 to pick myself up a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. At first it was love at first use, I used it every time I did my makeup to apply any foundation and found it worked flawlessly. I washed roughly once weekly with Johnsons baby shampoo and it was all going swimmingly until one day I noticed some of the bristles were further out than others. I tried to coax them back in to not avail, so I picked them out but with them came an even larger clump - nearly the whole centre of the brush.

After that I continued to use the brush more gently but after the first lot had gone the bristles were just coming out thick and fast,I was too worried I'd ruin it even more by trying to wash it (hence the grubby look in the above photo - apologies!). It was at that point I gave up with it and put an appeal out to #bbloggers for a similar, better quality brush. Thats when Real Techniques company page tweeted me, asking me to get in touch about my problems with the brush. I did and two weeks later I had a replacement in the post. As much as I was disappointed with the longevity of the brush, I can't deny I was impressed with their customer service - and the fact they were so apologetic and sent me a replacement suggests that it doesn't happen often. So now me and the expert face brush are back together and getting along swimmingly. I will report back if this happens again but for now I'm pretty happy that RT are actually dedicated to making sure their brushes are real quality.

Have you had any similar experiences with Real Techniques? Are there any similar brushes out on the market at the moment?

If you enjoy my posts, I'd love it if you followed me: bloglovin // twitter - until next time!

This is my next brush on the list to buy. It's good that you put the issue on twitter and why reading I expected RT to own it and send you a replacement - they really do have excellent customer service! Great post!

That's interesting to hear that it wasn't just me! I've never heard it before although I think a lot can be repaired with a bit of good CS!
