Redken Diamond Oil Shampoo and Mask

Ever since I got my Beauty Works hair extensions I have been on a major mission to try and find the best way to look after them. After much research and reading I gathered that 'drugstore' shampoo is probably the worst thing you can put hair extensions through so I set about investing in some salon shampoo. I get my hair done by Jason at HQ Hair in Chichester so they were my first port of call when I needed advice. One of the lovely girls there recommended Redken's 'Diamond Oil' range. As I'd previously used morrocan oil to great effect I figured this could be the hydrating, nourishing answer to my prayers and went home with this pamper pack including the shampoo and the deep facets mask which I seem to remember being around £20 on offer in salon.

Whilst using a mask every wash for conditioner wouldn't ordinarily be ideal, it was for me as blonde extensions get so much drier than real hair and you have to try and wash your hair much less often. Each time I shampoo'd as normal section by section and then applied the mask to my ends only and brushed it through whilst wet.

Redken claim the range "delivers a nourishing blend of coriander, camelina and apricot oils that target all layers of the hair to strengthen, replenish and protect with each use" and I would have to say I agree. My hair felt (almost) salon clean after every wash and my beauty works good as new each time which for me who is addicted to heat styling is a near miracle. My only problem with the products are the smell - which upon further investigation has got to be from the Coriander. It kind of reminded me of Lavender and is just super herbal, and not my cup of tea at all which is a shame because so many of these 'oil' ranges smell amazing.

All in all I would totally recommend this range particularly for dry or damaged hair - but would just advise you give it a sniff before hand to make sure it's for you. Also, if you wash your hair regularly I would only use the mask once each week and get the conditioner for the other washes otherwise it could be quite heavy. Look Fantastic have a great pack at the moment with all three here. This month I am trying out the Pureology 'Precious Oils' range so I'll be sure to report back on that in a couple of weeks.

Until next time.
