Wardrobe 'basics' or 'staples' are terms you read a lot if you spend a lot of time with fashion magazines. I never really bought into them too much but I decided recently I wanted to experiment with them. Two that pop up everywhere seem to be a tailored white shirt and some good fitting black jeans.
I picked up these jeans from New Look because I have them in acid wash and absolutely love them. The black wash come up a bit smaller, with not quite as much give but I could still just about get the same size. I love how they fit on the legs, but they are a little tight around the middle. Apologies that it is a bit creased I had to take these photos after a day of sitting in the office. This shirt was actually one I stole from my boyfriend because I preferred the length and I couldn't find a womens shirt that was as stiff (although I think ironing starch into them can help with that). I'd still like one a lot more oversized though. Shoes I went with these simple classic white sandals from Primark.

Annoyingly I left my bag to the side when I was taking these photos I wish I'd got it out because my black satchel fits perfectly with this look. I added a pop of colour with my beloved Lady Danger and softened the look by wearing my hair curly.

What are your wardrobe staples? Do you like the masculine tailored look?
