Tackling Modern Military and Berry A/W Trends with Debenhams

When I stumbled across a challenge by Debenhams to style looks from their Autumn/Winter collection, I was intrigued. The task was to style a look for yourself and friend from either Modern Military, Pastel Palette, Autumn Luxe, Blue Notes, Pinks & Berries or Winter Green trends. For myself I knew off the bat which I'd choose. Military is a trend I absolutely love - black, a LOT of pockets and a sort of rough around the edges sex appeal. I wanted to keep a sleek simple black silhouette like a fashion ninja so I knew these Julien Macdonald pieces were perfect with a bit of edge in the mesh and the leather look.

I'd wear this look with a high messy bun to draw attention to the earrings with perhaps a berry lip to warm it up. Parka's are a fantastic timeless coat that never seems to go out of style, and leaves you ready for anything. I HAD to use this Alexa polish to compliment the trousers as I can't wait to get my hands on it myself. I think this is a great wearable everyday look to demonstrate the Modern Military trend, and with just a quick change of shoes, can take you out in the evening too!

For the lovely Amy at Salt and Chic I went for a more office look based around the 'Pinks and Berries' collection. A Mac is the quintessential Autumn coat, and I think this fresh interpretation from Ben De Lisi for Principles is a fantastic staple that would flatter so many skin tones. The ombre skirt and the brogues work perfectly together in colour and the brogues give a really cool 'boyfriend' feel to the outfit which is so on trend this year. I used the accessories to soften and lift the look and keep it looking sweet and feminine. I'm so happy with this look it's perfect for a rainy day at the office.

Thanks for the nomination Amy, if you haven't already - check out her post here. So there are my two looks, and a little peek into the fantastic trend led collections over at Debenhams this Autumn/Winter.

If you'd like to try your hand at the competition all details can be found here - I nominate anybody reading. I'd love to know which look you prefer so please do let me know in the comments.

Thanks for reading!
