Soap and Glory Thick and Fast HD

Soap and Glory thick and fast HD, high definition mascara

Longer time readers of Something like Nicola might remember me waxing lyrical about Soap and Glory's mascara offering. It has become a staple of my daily routine that when a Soap and Glory 'Buy One Get One Half Price' coincided with a mascara shortage I knew exactly what I'd be picking up. Thick and Fast HD is the second of Soap and Glory's three mascaras.

I was immediately excited by the packaging - the black and pink of the other two is fine but honestly nothing special where as the gold really looks luxe and striking with the black and it has a lovely chunky casing. The brush is like a mini version of the first one presumably with a view to getting a higher definition effect. Where the original goes down the 'super voluminous' route, the second edition claims to give you 'doll like' lashes.

Now I'm going to be blunt, compared with the original this just doesn't measure up. It's harder to apply evenly due to the small brush and makes clumping very likely. The colour is good and you do manage to get some good volume but it is largely at the expense of length - so if you have father christmas lashes (short and chubby!) this is not going to be the one for you. I'm pretty sad because I was expecting such great things but I think I would just repurchase the original in future especially as this one is more expensive - although still cheap - at £10.50 (I know it's only 50p but every penny counts!).
