Estee Lauder Complexion Duo - Double Wear Foundation and BB Highlighter

I'm usually a high street girl through and through, one thing I don't mind parting with my pennies for is a great base. I have had my eyes on  the Estee Lauder Double Wear for a while. Originally it was part of my wishlist for taking advantage of a great staff discount my partner gets to get it but when he didn't get the time to go to the event I took advantage of Debenhams recent 10% off AND freebie to grab it along with their version of the Touche Eclat - the BB highlighter.

The first thing to note is the shade range is fantastic. The foundation offers tones in 6 levels, with 4 sub shades and then the option of a warm, neutral and cool for each - I'd be very surprised if they couldn't match you. The cool to warm thing was particularly a draw for me because I have a lot of trouble with foundations which are too warm. I went for shade 2C4 which is Ivory Rose, then 2C in the highlighter.

From previous reviews I was expecting the foundation to come on like a mask but I found it needed a lot of product to get a proper full base but it blended in beautifully to a really even finish. It's a matte finish which I really liked and I do love how it makes my skin look. It's advertised as extra long lasting but even with a primer I found it only just about made it to the end of my work day - but that's all I need so I'm okay with that.

The BB (blemish balm/base) highlighter I was less convinced by. I just didn't find it brightened me up noticeably and looked more like a really light concealer. For the price I'd probably want to see a bit more action from it but I'm wondering if I'm just not using it right (suggestions). Also it felt like I had to twist the end so much to get any out each time which makes me wonder how long this is going to last.

Obviously the sticking point for a lot of people is going to be the price, without discount the foundation is £29.50 (WITHOUT A PUMP - I hate that!) and the highlighter is £23.50 but the packing does look gorgeous and luxe. Honestly whilst it's a really great full coverage base, and the the shade matches perfectly, I'd be tempted to just shell the extra £2 for Sheer Glow or get the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra which is slightly cheaper WITH a pump. The highlighter I'd definitely leave, unless I have some revelation with it in the future.

So all in all slightly underwhelming intro to the Estee Lauder brand but am looking forward to trying out some of the other bits I got in the gorgeous goodie bag,

Have you tried either of these products? I'd love to know your tips for getting more out of them.
Thanks for reading!
